Well, I have finally found, tried, and tested a labeling product that not only works great, but is easy to use ...

NEATO's labeler is simple to operate... Not only can you create great CD labels, but also labels for floppy disks, jewel case inserts, standard cassettes, and my personal favorite, video cassettes inserts. I had so many videos with those ugly handwritten labels. But now I have all my videos labeled so I can tell at a glance which grandchild or vacation is featured on the tape.

If you don't want to be creative, NEATO has included on the CD over 100 textures and images to save you the trouble.

Label Your Own CDs? Neato!

One of those things you never knew you needed five years ago, like the Internet, was a way to make your homemade CDs look snazzy. Now an entire industry, it seems, has grown up around the idea. The Neato 2000 CD Labeler Kit ($29.95) includes jewel case inserts along with basic layout and design software to give your discs a more attractive and professional look. The essential element of the kit is the label applicator, a plastic disc with a small plunger that allows practically foolproof alignment of the label to your CDR disc.

With the advent of more people owning CD Burning hardware, there has been a definite need for labeling kits such as the Neato 2000. I came across it in a stationary store and was curious about the package so I had asked for an eval copy to let you all read about my findings.

The box comes with 4 complete paperworks for jewel cased CDs as well as a bunch of extra CD labels. This of course is enough to get you started and hooked. The paper is good quality and I did not mess up any so that should tell you that the program and equipment worked quite well.

Many companies such as NEATO (800-984-9800, http://www.neato.com), make labels you can run through an ink-jet printer. We used NEATO's $30 CD Labeler Kit. All in all I would definitely recommend this product to those that wish to customize their personalized CD products.

Neato has been successfully marketing CD labeling gizmos for quite a few years now. Neato's earlier CD-Face label-designing software for the Mac has now been replaced by the more robust MediaFACE program. It lets you view templates and copy and paste background images (from a collection of 66). A text tool lets you add text on top of the background, and text, clip art, and other objects can be moved, rotated, sized, flipped, and distorted.

Neato's MediaFACE software for the PC lets you import the same 66 background images and add text. You can curve, angle, and rotate the text, and you can easily change its color. Both Mac and PC designers can also use a number of graphic templates for PhotoShop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, and QuarkXpress.

If you need to label more than just CDs, Neato is worth checking out. The company offers an extensive line of high quality labels for just about every type of disk and tape cassette imaginable...

At the North American Music Merchants (NAMM) convention a few weeks back, we had seen some software that would be an interest to anyone involved in music, either playing, recording, listening, or both.

One such device for those who record music and wish to "jazz up" their cassette or CD albums, outside of writing on the cassettes or CDs with a felt pen is a device to make labels on CDs called NEATO.

This kit enables one to make great looking label faces that can be applied on a CD...

Here's where the fun parts starts. After a label for a CD is printed, using the high loss finish CD label paper, a device that is best described to be designed based on a Mr. Coffee filter base - a flat plastic base with a cone inch hole in the center. This application is great if one is printing and applying a few CDs... Overall for what this can do, the NEATO is great for being fancy on your one cassettes, CDs and so on.
